Red Library: A Political Education Podcast for Today's Left

Feb 18, 2019

On a special two-part episode of Red Library, Comrade Alex joins me to boost our theory power to OVER LEVEL 9000 with a discussion on Slavoj Zizek's Lenin 2017.

Through Zizek's book, we tackle a range of different topics including the role of science in revolution, dethroning Leftist icons because we love them, Big Others and Zizek's critical appraisal of Lenin through the lens of psychoanalysis. This is a great episode for anyone that maybe has heard a lot about Zizek's work (good and bad) but has not read him outside of the Op Eds he has published over the last few years. Throughout the two-part discussion, we explore how Zizek can push those of us on the Left to return to thinkers and revolutionaries like Lenin in a way that honors their emancipatory potentials without falling prey to orthodoxy and lifeless interpretations of their writings.

Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
