This week on Red Library, we bring you part 1 of a very special collaboration with one of our favorite podcasts, The Regrettable Century. We formed a Revolutionary Pessimist Justice League to read through Russell Jacoby's Dialectic of Defeat: Contours of Western Marxism.
We start part 1 (AKA the veritable split in the Hegel book club) discussing the general context of Jacoby's book, critiques of Western Marxism, the logic of success on the Left, lost futures of defeated Marxisms, Hegel, truth and objectivity in political history, and lots more!
